Shami Kabab Recipe


Description: Shami Kababs is a popular Pakistani dish made from ground meat, lentils, and spices, shaped into patties, and shallow-fried until golden. They are perfect as an appetizer, snack, or part of a main course.
Ingredients:
- 500g ground beef or chicken
- 1/2 cup chana dal (split chickpeas), soaked
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander (for garnish)
- Oil for frying
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Serving Size: 4 servings
Instructions:
- Cook the Meat and Lentils:
- In a pot, combine ground meat, soaked chana dal, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, turmeric, and salt.
- Add water and cook until the meat is tender and the lentils are soft.
- Grind and Shape:
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then grind it into a smooth paste.
- Shape the paste into small patties (kababs).
- Fry the Kababs:
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the kababs until golden brown on both sides.
- Serve:
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve the Shami Kababs hot with chutney or raita.
